Lunor at the training center for ophthalmic optics and optometry
On a crisp April day, I made my way to the Training Center for Optometry and Ophthalmology in Munich. On my arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Jochen Zöhr, the principal, who immediately invited me on a detailed tour of the impressive premises. During the tour of the center, I gained a deep insight into the facility, which enjoys an excellent reputation as an educational institution in the Bavarian capital. Particularly fascinating was the architecture of the building, which takes on the shape of a pair of glasses when viewed from the air – a creative trick that underlines the school’s specialization in optical craftsmanship. Inside the building, there are various learning and work rooms that are specially designed to optimally prepare the approximately 1,000 trainees and students for their professional future. Every year, around 250 trainees successfully complete their training at the vocational school, while around 90 students complete their studies at the technical college.
Sales and advice
A key aspect of the training focuses on the area of “sales and advice”. Students learn how to conduct professional consultations and how to design and decorate shop windows attractively. The center attaches great importance to the trainees gaining practical experience with a variety of eyewear shapes and high-quality frames in order to hone their skills.
In this context, the cooperation with Lunor came about. Thanks to the initiative of Mr. Stastny, the first chairman of the association, we were able to provide the training center with 40 high-quality frames from our collection. These frames, handmade by experienced spectacle makers from materials such as acetate, stainless steel and titanium, provide the budding opticians with an excellent basis for training their craftsmanship and sense of aesthetics. The variety of colors, materials and shapes of our frames also allows students to practice different aspects of customer service and sales, as well as designing different window displays. This practical training prepares them ideally for the challenges of professional life and ensures that they are well equipped when they complete their training. We are delighted to be able to support the training center with our spectacle frames.
At Lunor, we manufacture all our acetate spectacles in family-run businesses in southern Germany. This is how we guarantee the highest quality, traditional craftsmanship and fair working conditions. The productions are logistically favorable, so that we have extremely short delivery routes. We can trace every pair of glasses back to their origin, the production of the raw material. The high-quality acetate is made in Italy. You will feel this quality and enjoy wearing it for years to come.
